Recently on a list of books for kids to read, I saw All-of-A-Kind Family. I hadn't ever heard of it before, but picked it up at the library a few weeks ago. It is a story about 5 Jewish girls and their daily life in New York prior to WWI. The girls live in a poor family, and have lots of fun and adventures together. Both my 6 year old and 4 year old enjoyed listening to me read this book to them.
If you enjoy the Little House books or Little Women, you likely would enjoy this book as well.
