Apparently taking birth control pills when choosing a potential spouse has an impact on whom you choose. Studies show that when a woman is not on an oral contraceptive she tends to choose a male whose MHC genes (which affect the immune system) are different from her own. This will result in a healthier immune system for their offspring. However, when taking oral contraception, she tends to choose men whose MHC genes are more like her own. Birth control also can affect how attracted the female is to the male, those on the pill being less attracted and less sexually satisfied than those not taking oral contraception. In 2012, Scientific American went so far as to recommend that one refrain from taking the pill for some time before marrying to make sure that one's feelings of compatibility remain the same before marrying.
Yikes! But don't just take this from me. Read it in Salvo Magazine Issue 25 and other findings here, here, here, and here.
