Life does not get better just because you are a Christian. If fact, don't be surprised if it gets worse. God does not promise you good luck, good fortune, good days, good times. What he does promise is far better! Eternal life.
The songs that you write that say that life can only get better is an outright lie. It is possible that the trial that a particular Christian might be going through might end, but that is not a promise. It is harmful to Christians to repeatedly hear that life will get better because of their faith. When someone realizes that life is not going to get better, what will happen to his faith? Will he think that God doesn't care? Possibly. Will he think that God has left him out to suffer? Possibly. Will he think that God requires too much of his people? Possibly. But what is true? God cares very much. God does not leave us alone in our suffering. What God requires of His people is simple. It is perfection. We can't do it. Christ did. It is taken care of; finished.
Please, Christian Music Writer, continue to write songs, but please make them true to Scripture and not just about what sounds pretty in your own head. Pretty in your own head doesn't get anyone anywhere but to rejection of God. Let's understand that life is not good. Not at all. We are sinners. Eternal life is perfect. As Christians, that is something that we can look forward to!
