Epi Pen Box

At our son's school, they keep a box for each child who needs an epi pen. In the box are instructions on when to give what kind of medicine, how often, etc. from the doctor, a photo of the child, the epi pen, Benadryl, and a list of phone numbers.

We made an extra box for home so that it would be easy to grab to take places, send with him, or simply find all the information in one place here at home.

This is what the school box looks like (minus the doctor's note which I need to get an additional copy of).

If your child needs an epi pen, a box like this is easy to make. I used at 57 cent pencil box from Walmart. In each box, I put a brand new bottle of Benadryl. There is a card in each box with a list of phone numbers. We included both parents' numbers, the allergist's number, and his pediatrician's number. We will also put a note from the doctor in each box explaining when to use the Benadryl and when to use the epi pen (copies need to be made). At school, they are keeping two separate boxes, one in the classroom and one in the school office, so there is one epi pen in each box. On the outside of the box, on the top and all the sides, is David's name and "epi pen" so that everyone knows what is in the box.

Hopefully, we will never need to use it, but we are glad to have all the necessary information right at the fingertips of anyone who needs it.
